Alright, what can I say about the lads. Savage as always. I look at this as a precursor to the Sweeney’s album, and perhaps a good bye to the Honey Skippin’ era. I have been helping them out with pre-pro for a new album and I’ll say there is no sophomore slump in the cards for The Hot Sprockets. We can look forward to another track from this recording on the Sweeney’s release, and we can look forward to a serious step up from the Sprockets in 2012.
From Matt@Recording Hacks – Pro sound + amateur iPhone video + editing = fun live concert video.
I’d like to believe that. I remember this dude with his camera and his phone, I assume that was Dave K. I also remember Bob G drawing that picture on a napkin. Super job on the video and the edit. I’m surprised there aren’t more punters in that video because the place was wedged. Anyway, in addition to publishing the video this post it to let you know about the release of the Gypsy Rebel Rabble album Live at Sweeney’s. To get the album or find out about live appearances you can find the band here – Gypsy Rebel Rabble
This is the introduction of “House of dolls” to the Creamy Sonic blog. This is not the announcement of an album launch. This is not a press release. This is not an appeal to attend a specific show. This is Recording. This is an amazing band. This is the culmination of an album that isn’t an album, that hopefully might be some day. This is 12 powerful songs, recorded by 4 crazy, talented, motivated musicians. This is youth, this is music, this is the way the new music industry is going to need to work. This is not “How it Ends.” This is how it begins. This is a small piece of home grown, independent, fan supported, hard working, grass roots, blood, sweat, tears, and… This is “House of dolls.” This is what’s coming, this is what’s next.
A brilliant moment in time. Here is a magic moment with Seamus Fogarty. Directed by Myles and recorded in The Back Loft. Thanks again to Ciaran for assistance with the recording. With that said I’ll let the video speak for itself.
It appears this is actually an informal announcement of the Sweeney’s Live Album. We have been diligently working behind the scenes to record all of the house bands and regulars live in Sweeney’s Bar, and will be releasing a compilation album in the near future. As for This group, D-Riculous All Stars, as far as I know these guys are not even a band. This is a pick up band comprised of some of the most talented lads in the Dublin scene. David (guitar/vocals) fronts New Secret Weapon, Phil (bass/vocals) is in The 9 Bars Blues Band, and Phil (drums) in The Whipround. All three of those bands will be featured on the compilation. It is safe to say that this is a high caliber of musicianship for a pick up band, and something exceptional can be expected from the other recordings as well. This video gives a window into the craic which is a typical evening in Sweeney’s and was artfully directed and edited by Simon O’Neill. Simon also filmedĀ with help from Gavin Lawson, and Stephen Mogerley. This is a great video of a great band on a great night in a great pub and is a great representation of what can be expected from the live compilation.
